Mary Six Rupert- Creator of Tap Dancing Hands Down®
Mary Six started her dance training at the age of two, and started performing at two and a half. She has been a dance instructor at The Juilliard School, Steps on Broadway, Broadway Dance Center, Bridge for Dance, and Tap Dance Central in NYC. She has taught master classes around the world (Vienna, Paris, Germany, and Japan), as well as at academic institutions and private studios across the US. Mary Six was a professor of four levels of tap at Wagner College for eight years.

Aside from teaching, Mary Six was a Radio City Rockette for 13 years, where she was chosen to be a dance captain, an emergency swing, and an assistant to several directors and choreographers. She also performed in various musicals, with some of her favorites being 42nd Street, Gypsy, Singin’ in the Rain, My One and Only, and Can-Can. She worked with stars such as Chita Rivera and Rita Moreno, and well-known director/choreographers such as Maurice Hines, Alan Johnson, and Joe Layton. The highlight of her tap-dancing career was performing a tap duet with Harold Nicholas (of the famous Nicholas Brothers) at the London Palladium.
